作为英语语法系列中一个不大不小的语法点，高考中强调句的考查时常在语法填空和短文改错中出现。如考生在短文写作中使用得正确、适当，也不失为写作中的一个靓点。现将强调句做一梳理、归纳，以飨读者。

强调句

一、强调句的结构

It is/was+被强调的部分+that(who/whom)+句子的其它成分。

二、强调句可以强调的句子成分

强调句可以强调的句子成分有：主语、表语、宾语、状语等。不强调谓语、定语等。

如：I am your best friend.

It is I that/who am your best friend. （强调主语）

如：I met Tom yesterday by chance.

It was I that/who met Tom yesterday by chance.

（如强调的是句子的主语，且主语是人，也可以用who）

It was Tom that/whom/who I met yesterday by chance.

（如强调的是句子的宾语，且宾语是人，也可以用whom，或用who）

It was yesterday that I met Tom by chance.（强调时间状语）

It was by chance that I met Tom yesterday.（强调方式状语）

三、强调句的特征

强调句的特征：去掉“It is/was …that….”三部分后，句子依然完整。否则不是强调句。

如：It was six when Tom came back yesterday.

It was at six that Tom came back yesterday.

四、如何强调句子的谓语

如果要强调句子的谓语，可用do/does/did. 意为“的确，确实，真的”。

如：I do want to change this situation, but I don’t know how to do it.

He did visit Professor Li yesterday.

If you have a job, A yourself to it and finally you’ll succeed.

五、“not…until…”句型的强调

在“not…until…”的句型中，如要强调until引导的时间状语，需将“not和until引导的时间状语”一并放在被强调的位置。

如：He didn’t understand the problem until I explained it three times.

It was not until I explained it three times that he understood the problem.

六、强调句的注意事项

注意强调句中的省略现象和强调句中包含的定语从句、状语从句和名词性从句。

----Where did you first met Tom?

----It was in the hotel ______ he lived.

答语后面省略了强调句的后半部分。完整的说法应是：It was in the hotel where he lived (that I first met Tom).
